An open plan zoned kitchen in a new extension to a traditional stone built home. We created a sociable space to cook and live.
A structural pillar had to remain and we designed a peninsula between it and the wall which created a perfect break between the kitchen and living areas with high level seating. Copper pendant lighting over a deep section of Corian gives a contemporary feel to the design with accents of zesty orange.
The brief included space for the young chef of the family to try her hand at pastry-making with mum and we designed a lower level at the end and behind the peninsula. It also serves as a great area to drop shopping bags for decanting, rather than on the floor or the worktop.
An addition to the kitchen furniture is the double wine chillers and storage for spirits and mixers. Glass storage above flanks the open shelved centre which has space for those decorative pieces and family photographs.
The extension is now a fabulously zoned space for areas to cook, eat, relax and be sociable.
