Who would have predicted the expansion of high fashion into our kitchens? Fashion giants have been influence our wardrobes for decades, now they look into our homes.
Luxurious house textiles, furniture, art-work and accessories were reserved for elites until they became affordable.
Big names are not scared or ashamed to work with brands, such as H&M, and these collaboration became a norm.
Dolce & Gabbana has joined forces with SMEG to bring us a unique range of kitchen accessories.
"SICILIAN CRAFTSMANSHIP MEETS STATE OF THE ART TECHNOLOGY"
Following from the success of their previous collaboration of 100 hand painted refrigerators, this time they focus on smaller kitchen appliances. Toasters, coffee machines, kettles, blender, juicers and stand mixers are now available from retails such as John Lewis, Harrods and Amazon.
On Dolce&Gabbana website we can read:
"Dolce&Gabbana and Smeg join creative forces to create Sicily is my Love, a truly Made in Italy project where experts from the worlds of high fashion and design meet and merge to create unique domestic appliances that uncover an Italian story.
All these products are decorated with reflective interpretations of Sicilian folklore. Lemons, prickly pears, and bright red cherries are just a selection of Sicilian decorations that are framed in triangular motifs known as crocchi, that decorate these small appliances. Together with crocchi, the appliances are covered in delicate floral motifs and images of the enthralling Mount Etna, surrounded by ornamental friezes, and decorative acanthus leaves. All these themes and decorative symbols are intrinsically tied to Sicily and the important aspects of the aesthetic of Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana."
These fabulous products will brighten up any kitchen.
SMEG is enormously proud of this collaboration and planning their next project. To see the actual value for money of a product, it is always best to compare.
With SMEG and Dolce&Gabbana's range we can compare the same model of a kettle.
The added value of this kettle is in it's unique design but not only. For many people, the country of origin is also very important. Giving that the manufacturing and material costs in China are much lower, Italian made products are naturally perceived as more luxurious and better made, and that is for the costumers to judge on when buying.
